I am able to offer guidance in the area of Divorce Mediation, using a co-mediation approach with a member of the legal profession. I am able to offer direction and assistance in the areas of care, contact and residency of children, maintenance and division of assets.
The role of the Divorce Mediator is gentle, open and compassionate, and guides the parties with the process of drawing up:
- A Parenting plan – viewed through the lens of “in the best interests of the children”
- A Maintenance agreement
- Division of assets in a fair and transparent manner
- A final Memorandum of Understanding, which can be converted to a settlement agreement by a legal representative
Divorce mediation requires both parties to come together and find agreement on issues surrounding their divorce. The Mediator is responsible for the process, and both parties in the divorce are responsible for the outcome.
Registrations & Qualifications
- BA Majoring in Psychology and International Relations (University of the Witwatersrand).
- Hons. BA Psychology (Unisa).
- B Psych internship at Family Life Centre (FAMSA) in Parkwood.
- Registered with the Health Professions' Council of South Africa and the SA Board of Healthcare Funders.
- Trained as a Divorce Mediator with Family Life Centre. Currently working as a pro bono mediator at FLC Mediation Centre.
- Member of SAAM (South African Association of Mediators).
- Member of the Medical Protection Society.
- Member of the Psychological Society of South Africa (PYSSA).
- Extensive experience in all types of counselling both at Family Life Centre and Martindale Counselling Centre.
